Covering 20 acres, Taylor Farm Park has unique features for families to enjoy, and it has the largest play space of all the Henrico County parks. Its destination skatepark is the biggest in Virginia, covering around 30,000 square feet. In the play ground area, you'll see the integrated turf play mounds with misters. You will also see a one-of-a-kind, man-made interactive stream. It's approximately 250' long, and children can play in it! You can jump from stone to stone, sit or splash in the water or enter at one of the two zero entry points!

The skate park will be open until 10pm, and it has state-of-the-art lights.
Notable Features about Taylor Farm Park:
In the children's play space, you will find the biggest playgrounds in Henrico County parks and the Richmond Metro Area. It has 2 massive nature-based playgrounds and one has ADA accessible flooring and features.
Taylor Farm Park's water play is incredibly unique too! You'll see the integrated turf play mounds with misters. You will also see a one-of-a-kind, man-made interactive stream. It's approximately 250' long, and children can play in it! You can jump from stone to stone, sit or splash in the water or enter at one of the two zero entry points.
It also has the biggest skate park in Virginia, covering 30,000 square feet!
Activities Available & Recreational Spaces at Taylor Farm Park:
The usable space in Taylor Farm Park covers 20 acres. This park is massive with no separation between play spaces, so bring a wagon or stroller if you have little kids. Also, expect a crowd until at least mid August when schools start up. Henrico has been planning this park for a long time - everyone is very excited to finally check it out! Try visiting early (before 10am) for a smaller crowd.
Check out each section below for details on each feature in the park.
Water Play:
Taylor Farm Park has a splash park, mound misters and an interactive stream in the children's playground area. You can play in all the water play areas of the park. All of the surface area around the playground can get very hot on sunny days — try to wear shoes or sandals! Also, children in diapers should wear swim diapers to play.
Please note, pets are not permitted in the water play areas.
Splash Park: The splash park is in the main play area with the three playgrounds. It's directly next to the bathrooms, which have a family bathroom too. The entire water play area has ADA surface, making it a play space for all abilities, and it's also nice for crawlers & new walkers. It has rocks for kids to hide under or run around. The water jets spray out at varying strengths, and you can turn them off and on using the control tower (blue tower with a button).
*My children wore Crocs & Keens to the playground. These were great because we could transition easily from each play space.
Mound Misters: The turf mounds are on the outskirts of the splash park, and the hills have misters in ground. It cools you as you walk by or as you run through them! Kids can also play, crawl and roll down the hills.
Interactive Stream: The one-of-a-kind, man- made interactive stream goes approximately 250’ long through the play area. Children can jump in the stream, sit in the stream, jump along the rocks, or enter the stream at the two zero entry points.
*This water play space is right next to the playgrounds. Make sure your children have shoes that are easy to put on to make for the easiest play. My children wore Crocs & Keens, keeping their shoes on for most of the play.
Playground Area:
There are three large play structures in the playground area. The majority of this play space is full sun with tree coverage around the perimeter. It also has a covered picnic shelter. From the play space, you can jump on the paved walking trail too. The closest bathroom is next to the splash park.
If you have children 6 and younger, I’d recommend 1:1 ratio with grownups and kids. The play area is very large, and there are no barriers between play spaces. Children can easily run from each section.
Little Kids Playground: This is the colorful playground directly next to the splash park, and it also has an ADA surface. It has a long, winding ramp up the play structure. Kids can climb the rope ladders and webs up to the slides. There are play activities under the play structure too.
Play areas for little ones are on the ground with a little slide and smaller climbing section. Please note, the higher you go up the in the playground, portions have no railing or railings for older children (5ish). Grownups may need to climb around the higher sections with little kids.
It has a saucer swing, and two traditional swings are across the walkway by the picnic shelter. This playground does not have any baby swings.
Large, Wooden Playground: The wooden playground is massive with 3 tall tree houses that are connected by rope bridges (these are fully enclosed in netting, so kids cannot fall out). It also has two steep slides, one tube slide and one in the sun.
The man-made stream starts by this playground, and it runs underneath the structure. You will hear the running water... and it's so peaceful!
This playground is geared towards older kids. If you have smaller kiddos, expect to climb up with them.
Climbing Play Structures: The climbing play area is made of rope, and it looks like a giant spider web. Children can climb all around the webs or play underneath the webs. This section is for all ages and abilities with opportunities for play above and below the ropes.
This area of the playground has a stand-alone zip line, and it has two racing zip lines.
Walking Trails:
You'll find a mile of paved walking trails. These paths go around the playground, through the woods, over the wetlands and over boardwalks. There is partial shade depending on when you are walking and where you are walking on the paths.
The All Wheels Park & Flow Bowl/Pump Track:
This all-wheels park spans 30,000 square feet - the biggest in Central Virginia! This area of the park stays open to 10pm, and it has lights. This area is the park has full sun.
This area of the park has tracks and options for all skill levels - beginner, intermediate and expert. Helmets are always required. Other guards -- kneepads, elbow pads, and wrist guards-- are highly recommended.
Skate Park: This skate park spans 17,000 square feet. It's all concrete, so you can ride your skate board, bike and even use roller skates or roller blades all around this park. While this area is full sun, there is a covered picnic shelter between the two skate parks.
BMX Park: The BMX Dirt Skills Course with three courses for different skill levels -- beginners, intermediates, and advanced riders. This pump track covers 12,000 square feet. It reminds me of the BMX track at Belle Isle more than the paved track at Deep Run Park. Since it is not paved, it will be muddy after rainy days.
*Only skateboards, bicycles, non-motorized equipment, in-line, and roller skates are permitted.
More information about visiting Taylor Farm Park:
Henrico County's newest park is located in Sandston, which is a part of Eastern Henrico near Mechanicsville. While the park is roughly 100 acres, only 20 acres were used to create the usable park space. You will find an event space, a memorial for fallen heroes & monuments dedicated to each service branch and first responders at the entrance of the park. It also has a destination skatepark, a pump track, and bike skills course are at the middle of the park. The large playground with 3 separate play spaces and a spray park are across from the all-wheels park. The one-mile paved walking loop goes around all of the park's spaces.
There are multiple entrances and parking lots with around 300 spots for Taylor Farm Park. If you're looking for the event space or Police Memorial, use the first parking lot at the front of the park. If you're looking for the BMX trail or skate park, you'll want to drive past the event space and memorial to the middle or last parking lot. If you are visiting for the splash park and playgrounds, you will want to park in the middle or last parking lots.
