Why Lloyd Family Farms is the Best Pumpkin Patch in Richmond

Located in Rockville, Lloyd Family Farms is a working farm run by 3rd & 4th generation Lloyd owners. It opened to the public in 2013 with their first pumpkin patch & now they grow 65 different types of pumpkins!

It has the BIGGEST corn pit in Richmond! 146,260 pounds of corn fill the pit -- that's equal to 73 tons of corn!

This is great patch to visit with all ages, including toddlers, preschoolers and teens. The farm has age appropriate activities for all of them - sand play, trucks & tractors, live animals, a huge hay bale castle with slides, jump pad, a corn pit, and photo ops! Lloyd Family Farms is also handicapped friendly.

The best part? The admission cost includes unlimited hayrides, visiting with the horses and goats, and playing in the corn maze, straw castle, sand pile, giant pinball field, and visiting the pumpkin patch. The only add ons are for pony rides and face painting.

Lloyd Family Farms has Family-Friendly Fall Activities Everyone Will Love

You'll find all the fall fun at Lloyd Family Farms. It has age appropriate activities for all of ages, including sand play, trucks & tractors, live animals, a huge hay bale castle with slides, jump pad, a corn pit, and photo ops!

2025 Costs: It costs around $15 per person (2 and under can visit for free). You can buy tickets at the admissions booth, and Groupon runs a seasonal discount on a "family four pack" of tickets ($45 instead of $60).

Activities included in Admission: This includes unlimited hayrides, visiting with the horses and goats, and playing in the corn maze, straw castle, sand pile, giant pinball field, and visiting the pumpkin patch.

Heads Up: You ride a tractor from the parking lot to both the play areas and the pumpkin patch. Once you're over in those areas, you have to wait for another tractor to get you back to the parking lot.

Pro Tip: We usually try to visit on Fridays or school holidays. If we are able to do this, we practically had the place to ourselves. We usually spend around 2 hours at this pumpkin patch, even when mine were little. At 15 month old and 3 year old loved the pedal trucks, slides, and a sandpit with diggers and other trucks.

Seasonal Treats: Apple Cider, Donuts, and Fall Favorites

Lloyd Family Farms has a rotating list of food trucks that visit every day. You will find food trucks like Cluck-n-Roll, Tom's Travlin' Coffeee, Kona Ice & more, serving breakfast, lunch dinner and sweet treats.

More Things to Know about visiting Lloyd Family Farms with Kids:

  1. There’s lots of parking in the field.

  2. It is handicapped friendly. You can call ahead if you require additional support during a visit.

  3. Admission is $15 for everyone over 2. Children 2 and younger get in free.

  4. Active military & first responders (with ID) admitted free.

  5. Paying with cash will save you $1 per ticket (credit cards add a fee).

  6. Admission includes hayrides, a corn maze, a hay bale castle, a sand pile, corn pit, various yard games, and animal interactions.

  7. Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours here.

  8. Face painting was in the barn during our visit. It costs around $5 for cheek art, $10 for half face & $15 for whole face.

  9. It has porta potties. You can find them at the admissions both and by the play area on the farm.

  10. The farm is full sun, but there is an open air barn and a tent over the corn pit. Some of the hayrides have cover too.

  11. Strollers and wagons fit on the tractors. I always preferred a baby carrier at the patch.

  12. There are food & drink vendors. Chips & water bottles are $1 by the barn.

  13. Bring hand sanitizer.

  14. This is a working farm - dress appropriately. If it has rained recently, there is a lot of mud on the paths.
