#RVA Businesses offering Kits

Updated: Apr 4, 2020

So many of our local businesses are offering to-go kits for pick up or drop off. This is a great way to support our local community and have fun activities for our children and families while we are at home.

1. Play at Whim: This is one of our favorite places to play - it's a unique pop-up that switches themes regularly. We have visited the Winter Wonderland and The Book Club! While Whim's doors are closed to the public, the amazing owner is creating sensory boxes that you can order online, and they will be delivered to your door. These boxes are geared towards LOs 3-5, but my 2.5 year old loved it (with supervision). Most of the kits are $20, but the mermaids are $25. Send a DM to their Instagram ( @playatwhim).

2. Magic and Merriment: A locally owned company that creates one-of-a-kind princess experiences is creating so much magic for us at home. The princesses are doing virtual story times, you can order a Princess FaceTime and more! Recently, owner Whitney began creating Frozen gift boxes for children. Each box is $25, and it includes a letter from Elsa, a special video greeting, an activity book and more. These are delivered daily. Send @magicandmerriment a DM on Instagram to order.

3. The Mixing Bowl: A local bakery, The Mixing Bowl is offering DIY Cookie Decorating Kits for $12.65. You can pick a girl theme, boy theme or both! Each set comes with 8 cookies, 4 packages of buttercream and 3 packs of sprinkles. Call the store to order: 288-2712. You can follow them on Instgram, too ( @themixingbowlbakeryrva ).

We ordered a set of both and have been decorating 2-3 a day for a fun treat. H has had so much fun playing with the sprinkles & icing.

3. River City Roll: A local bowling alley, River City Roll is offering DIY Pizza and Cocktail Kits. The best part: you can order online & they bring it directly to your car. We ordered each person a pizza for $10, and we made them together. Everything is measured out and in its own container, making it perfect for little ones to make their own, too. Our 2.5 year old enjoyed flouring the dough and spreading it out! Follow River City Roll on Instagram ( @riverycityroll ).

4. Three Sweets to the Wind: Three Sweets to the Wind is offering cookie decorating kits for $20: 12 cookies, 4 bags of icing and sprinkles. The bakery offers contactless porch pick-up. Call (804) 832-3880 to place an order.

5. Mellow Mushroom Richmond - Carytown: Mellow Mushroom in Carytown has Kid's Pizza Kits. The kit comes with all the needed ingredients and instructions for $9.49. Mellow Mushroom is also offering 10% off on all pick up orders when you use the code 918-319-260 at checkout (online and call-in orders).

6. The Art Factory & Party Place: The Art Factory is packaging their popular art projects into to-go kits. They have Bunny Boxes, Easter Camp-in-a-box, and other take home art-kits. They are also having Mr. Beatman do live shows on their Facebook page!

7. Twirling to Fight Cancer Cookie Fundraising: These cookies are completely sold out until April 1. Please email aidynscaringcookies@gmail.com to be notified of when they are re-open for orders.

8. Lil' Stuff Cookies: Baker Dena Ashby has cookie decorating sets and paint your own cookie options. For questions and ordering, please send Dena a message on Facebook.

9. Rise Richmond: Rise is offering Rise Donut Decorator Kits for $18.00. Each kit comes with 12 donuts, 3 glazes and 3 different types of sprinkles. To order, visit their website. For pick up, an employee will bring it to your car at a scheduled time.

10. AR Workshop: AR Workshop offers DIY to-go kits for all ages. You can pick from letter tiles, bags, wooden signs, blankets and more on the website. Kits are available for pickup or drop off.
