Did you know Glen Allen is home to one of the largest concrete swimming pools in Virginia?!
Formerly known as Overhill Lake (IYKYK), Cobblestones Park has been open since the 1950s with a rebrand in 2005. This water park has two large pools, a zero entry point, water slides, sand play areas, and a concession stand.
The highlight of this water park for kids are the water slides! You will find water slides for all ages: small, little kid-friendly slides into 2 feet deep water and super steep water slides for thrill seekers!

Here’s what you need to know about visiting Cobblestones Splash Park with kids.
This public pool and water park has a 38,000 square foot pool with a variety of slides - little kid friendly to thrill seeker!
This is the only public pool with a tube slide that you can use an inflatable on. Kids can ride down the slide in an inter-tube. My kids loved this one! It also has two “magic carpet” slides - we’ve only tried the smaller one.
Because of the size of the kiddie pool, this is a really great pool for little kids. So the next time swim team takes over your pool or you need a fun way to cool off, head over to Glen Allen’s only water park.
Since this water park hasn’t been updated since 2005, it is the most dated of the three RVA public pools and water parks that have “special features.” Both Pocahontas Aquatic Center and Carter Park Pool have received updates or full renovations in the last five years. Cobblestones Water Park is also the most expensive public pool around Richmond. And your kids will love it!
Pro Tip: Having a one child to one adult ratio will make your experience much easier at this water park! The pool area is very big, and if your kiddos want to do the water slides, I liked being able to have an adult at the top and one waiting at the bottom.

Beginning Saturday, August 16, Cobblestones will only be open on weekends.
The last day of the 2025 season is Monday, September 1 (Labor Day).
What special features does the water park have?
This water park has over one million gallons of water fun in two, large chlorine pools. It has three, big slides, a covered picnic shelter, and picnic tables in a sand play area. These picnic tables have 20-foot-wide umbrellas for shade!
The kiddie pool is the largest one around RVA. This pool has a zero entry point and a maximum depth of 2 feet. There are mushroom waterfalls and four, little kid-friendly water slides.
There are five lifeguard stands - four in the larger, deep pool and one in the kiddie pool. There are three lift guards in the water - one at the bottom of each steep slide.
How tall do you need to be to ride the water slides?
In the kiddie pool, there are four little-kid friendly water slides. There is no age or height requirement for these slides. Kids of all ages can try the pirate ship slide, the sea shell slide, the frog slide and the mushroom slide. All four go into 2 feet deep of water.
In the large pool, there are four water slides. There is a tree trunk slide that goes very fast, but there is not an age or height requirement.
The three large water slides do have a height requirement - all guests must be 3 feet tall or taller. Guest must be able to ride down on the rube or magic carpet alone too. All guests must know how to swim to use these slides too.
Each of the big water slides have a lifeguard at the top, helping guests onto the slide and telling them when it's safe going down. These slides also have a lifeguard at the bottom, making sure each guest exits the slide area. In our experience, the lifeguards were very helpful with younger kids going down the slides.
Arm vests, puddle jumpers, floaties, etc, are not allowed on the big water slides.
Can I bring my own food and drink to Cobblestones?
Yes, you can bring your own food and drink. Coolers are allowed. Glass and alcohol is not allowed.
There is also a concession stand that sells ice cream, popsicles, nachos, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, etc.
Prices are between $2 and $12.
Are there bathrooms?
Yes, this water park has bathrooms with a changing table near the sandy picnic area. This is a basic restroom with no changing area or showers. There is an elephant spray feature that you can rinse your feet off (this is near the sandy picnic area).
What should I bring?
There are no lounge chairs on the pool deck, so bring tailgating chairs if you’d like to sit right by the pool. There are large picnic tables with umbrellas in the sandy play area and there is a covered party deck with lots of picnic tables.
You can bring strollers and wagons. A wagon is very helpful to get all your gear from the parking lot to the pool area.
Bring towels and sun protection. This water park has full sun unless you’re under one of the picnic table areas.
